听力原文:W: Richard, I wonder if you can tell me something about hotels on the Costa Brava
.

M: Why? Sorry, Helen. I'm afraid I know little more than you do.

W: Well, it's just that we've been thinking of taking the family to Spain this summer and at this rather late stage we're trying to organize ourselves a suitable hotel. But I thought that you'd been to the Costa Brava.

M: It's absolutely late. But have you looked at the ads?

W: Yeah. As a matter of fact I was reading one ad just this morning in the Daily paper which sounded terrific..

M: For a hotel?

W: Yes. Just outside Barcelona. It said that this hotel was right on the beach, and that's essential as far as we have concerned..

M: I know just how it is.

W: And all the rooms have balconies facing the sea and overlooking the beach.

M: Expensive?

W: No. That was the amazing thing about it. But I'm not sure how much exaggeration there is in the ad.

M: The only way to find out for certain is to go and try it. And that's taking rather a risk.

W: Yes, I agree with you.

(23)

A.Brazil.

B.Spain.

C.Italy.

D.Costa Rica.

听力原文:M: Are you ready for the trip to museums in the Big Apple? I can hardly wait.

W: The Big Apple? What are you talking about?

M: The Big Apple is the nickname for New York City.

W: Oh, tell me, where does the nickname the Big Apple come from?

M: The jazz musicians of the 1920's are responsible for the name. When they played a concert in a city, they called that city an apple.

W: Oh, but I still can't understand why they called it an apple instead of calling something else like a cake?

M: I am not very sure about that. New York was the biggest city in the country, and the best place for a jazz concert. So the musicians called it the Big Apple.

W: I think it's not only a big apple for the musicians but a big apple for everyone who wants to find an opportunity in that city.

M: That's a good idea. Well, you are going to New York with us, aren't you?

W: Yes, I'm going to. I'm especially looking forward to seeing the Museum of Modern Arts.

M: And I heard that there's a special show of 20th century American Painters there.

W: Amazing! New York is such a fascinating place. And it even has an interesting nickname.

M: Want to have a bite of the Big Apple, don't you?

W: Sure.

(23)

A.An exhibit of paintings.

B.A Broadway play.

C.A modern dance production.

D.An opera.

听力原文: It's amazing how quickly our group has grown. We began with 15 people a little over 4 years ago. We used to meet out at the airport to talk about retail marketing; we were focused on sharing marketing strategies and trying to find new retail opportunities for a variety of banking products. Over time, we put together a line of marketing approaches for financial services that several companies have seized upon. We now routinely speak at financial services conferences and provide private consulting. Our group of 15 people has grown to more than 200, and we take up a lot more office space.

What is the speaker mainly discussing?

B.The history of a group

听力原文:M: Hey, Jane! What's so interesting?

W: What? Oh, hi, Tom! I'm reading this fascinating article on the societies of the Ice Age during the Pleistocene period.

M: The Ice Age? There weren't any societies then—just a bunch of cave people.

W: That's what people used to think. But a new exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History shows that lee Age people were surprisingly advanced.

M: Oh, really? In what ways?

W: Well, Ice Age people were the inventors of language, art, and music as we know it. And they didn't live in caves; they built their own shelters.

M: What did they use to build them? The cold weather would have killed off most of the trees, so they couldn't have used wood.

W: In some of the warmer climates they did build houses of wood. In other places they used animal bones and skins or lived in natural stone shelters.

M: How did they stay warm? Animgi-skin walls don't sound very sturdy.

W: Well, it says here that in the early Ice Age often faced their homes toward the south to take advantage of the sun—a primitive sort of solar heating.

M: Hey, that's pretty smart.

W: Then people in the late Ice Age even insulated their homes by putting heated cobblestones on the floor.

M: I guess I spoke too soon. Can I read that magazine article after you're done? I think I'm going to try to impress my anthropology teacher with my amazing knowledge of Ice Age civilization.

W: What a show-off?

(20)

A.They lived in caves.

B.They traveled in groups.

C.They had an advanced language.

D.They ate mostly fruit.
