听力原文:W: Nine out of ten parents smack their children according to a report published t
oday. What is your opinion about this report?

M: Well, although nine out of ten parents use smacking as a punishment, half of them feel guilty about using it. The other half do smack their children and think they are right. It seems most parents we talked to smack their children more than once a week and 5% actually smack their children every day.

W: The report suggests that parents should make more efforts to understand their children and that smacking isn't always the best solution if children are naughty.

M: Yes, parents should try harder to understand how their children feel when they react in certain ways. For example they might be jealous of a new baby brother or a sister or they might feel insecure. Any number of things might make the child react badly.

W: So in those kinds of situations it would be better not to smack children?

M: Yes, obviously because when a child's behaving badly, it needs love and attention, not anger and violence. I think parents should think really carefully before they smack their children.

W: Maybe parents should find an opportunity to communicate with their children.

M: That's right.

A.Five out of nine.

B.Nine out of ten.

C.One out of ten.

D.Five out of eight.

听力原文:W: You read this? A couple that couldn't have a baby cloned the husband, and the
wife is now in the family way!

M: Oh, you mean the wife is going to give birth to her husband?

W: Right. The child will be born in two months and the couple won't feel sad about having no children! How great!

M: But isn't that strange? How could the father face another self! You see, they'll look exactly the same! And if they had decided to clone the wife, she'd be giving birth to herself!

W: Well, isn't it charming to live your own life again? I think human cloning is beneficial in many ways, such as providing remedies for new incurable diseases, prolonging one's life, and so on.

M: That's very good, but what'll be the relationship between the parents and their cloned copy? What responsibilities should people take for their own clone? And what if the child falls in love with his own mother one day? As I see it, human cloning is unethical and must be prohibited!

W: Well, maybe human cloning still has a long way to go, or, maybe, the couple would be better of adopting a child.

Who has the couple cloned?

A.The wife.

B.The husband.

C.The baby.

D.A sheep.

Parents often believe that they have a good relationship with their teenagers (青少年). But last summer, Joanna and Henry noticed a change in their older son: suddenly he seemed to be talking far more to his friends than to his parents. "The door to his room is always shut." Joanns noted.

Tina and Mark noticed similar changes in their 14-year-old daughter. "She used to cuddle up (蜷伏) with me on the sofa and talk," said Mark. "Now we joke that she does this only when she wants something, Sometimes she wants to be treated like a little girl and sometimes like a young lady. The problem is figuring out which time is which."

Before age 11, children like to tell their parents what's on their minds. "In fact, parents are first on the list." said Michael Riera, author of Uncommon Sense for Parents with Teenagers. "This completely changes during the teen years." Riera explained. "They talk to their friends first, then maybe their teachers, and their parents last."

Parents who know what's going on in their teenagers' byes are in the best position to help them. To break down the wall of silence, parents should crate chances to understand what their children want to say, and try to find ways to talk and write to them. And they must give their children a mental break, for children also need freedom, though young. Another thing parents should remember is that to be a friend, not a manager, with their children is a better way to know them.

"The door to his room is always shut" suggests that the son ______.

A.is always busy with his studies

B.doesn't want to be disturbed

C.keeps himself away from his parents

D.begins to dislike his parents

听力原文:W: It's almost May Day holidays. Have you got a plan where to go?

M: I suppose I can go to Tibet, which is the place people throughout the world like to go to. But it will cost a lot.

W: I know you have got a part-time job. Perhaps you can earn some money for that.

M: The job doesn't pay much, but my parents promised to offer me some. What about you?

W: Well, I am on the way. Can you give me some advice? I know you are a kind of traveler.

M: I am used to traveling by myself. But this time I hope you can be my company.

W: What about money?

M: One of my classmates has a job in a hotel on weekends, making beds and cleaning bathrooms. Soon she will have to finish her degree paper. If you don't mind, you can take her place.

W: And then I can return the money to you?

M: Isn't it a good idea?

W: That's pretty good. I used to do some farm work for my parents when I was in high school. I think I can do it well enough. Maybe I can even keep the job, which will relieve my parents a lot.

When does the conversation take place?

A.Before May Day holidays.

B.After May Day holidays.

C.During May Day holidays.

D.In class.

听力原文:W: Are you going to find a job again this summer?

M: Yes, of course. Otherwise, how am I going to pay for the tuition fees in the fall?

W: I am thinking of working too, but my folks insist I have to spend some time with them during the summer. You know', I haven't seen them for two years.

M: That's considering you are only an eight-hour drive away from your hometown. Why haven't you been home for so long?

W: It's not that I didn't want to go home but because my parents were volunteering in the charitable organization in Central America for the last couple of years.

M: In that case, maybe you should visit them in the summer.

W: That's true, but I didn't want to spend the whole summer staying at home. I want to make some money and pay off my tuition fees too.

M: Well, you can get a loan.

W: Loan? I hate the idea of borrowing. I would rather make my own money and pay it off.

M: That's true. It's not uncommon for people to have high bills to pay once they've graduated.

W: Yes, that's exactly what I didn't want to get myself into.

M: Well, you can work part-time when you are at home.

W: I was thinking about that but my parents thought I should be at home with them full-time.

M: Well, I think you do have to make a decision.

(1)
