听力原文: People enjoy talking about trips, but what are the reasons they leave home? (33)One reason is for education. People travel because they want to broaden their horizons to learn about other people and other places. They are curious about other cultures. When people are tourists, they get a quick look at different ways of living. Even a short look at another kind of lifestyle. is an important lesson.

On a trip, a person can learn directly--by visiting museums and historic spots. (34)What does a tourist learn who sees the art museums, visits the historical palaces and other scenic spots in Paris, and shops along the River Seine? He gets a vivid picture--a real-life one--of the French people. He learns about their attitudes, how they feel about business, beauty, and history.

What about the tourist who goes to Hong Kong? Does he get the same information that he could get from a book? He might read that Hong Kong is crowded, that there is less than 200 square meters of space for each person, but seeing and feeling the lack of space will (35)impress him much more. He might read that there are nearly 200 vehicles for every kilometer of roadway, but the sight of so many vehicles parked along the roadside will be (35)a much more vivid lesson. The tourist to Hong Kong will never forget the contrasts--the straight vertical lines of the tall modern buildings and the moving lines of boats that people live in.

Read this report about the limited company.

In most of the lines 34—35 there is one extra word. It is either grammatically incorrect or does not fit in with the meaning of the text. Some lines, however, are correct.

If a line is correct, write CORRECT on your Answer Sheet.

If there is an extra word in the line, write the extra word in CAPITAL LETTERS on your Answer Sheet.

What Is An Limited Company

When a limited company has started for trading, you do not invest in shares by

giving more capital to the company. You buy for them from one of the shareholders.

34 If it is a public limited company, shares can be bought and sold freely, usually

35 at a Stock Exchange. If the company is doing well and paying high dividends,

36 then you might pay more than the face value of the shares. If what it is doing badly

37 you might pay less than the face value of the shares. The price you pay at the Stock

38 Exchange for your shares is their market value. If that the company fails, it will

39 stop trading and go into liquidation. This means that all the company's property and

40 equipment must be sold and the money from the sale will be used to pay for all

41 its debts. The shareholders may lose the money they paid for the shares. If the

42 company still does not have enough money to pay all its debts, the shareholders

43 do not have to pay any more money. In other words, the shareholders' liability for

44 debts is limited to the value of their shares. On the other hand, if when you are an

45 owner of a business, which is not limited, when business fails, you will go bankrupt

Marketing Information

Correct Sales and marketing messages are illegal if they falsely advertise prices,

the performance capability, quality, or the other product characteristics, or deceive

34 the buyer in what any way. A Western Canadian electronics firm was convicted

35 recently of bait-and-switch selling (selling products with deceptive advertising).

36 This practice occurs when a company advertises at a very low price on a

37 product, but the customer has great many difficulty getting the special price.

38 Rather that, the company attempts to sell the customer a similar but

39 higher-priced product or offers a rain check that it will not be honored. This

40 tactic for attracting customers is a form. of deceptive marketing. Furthermore,

41 sellers of services must also be cautious about how the language they use to

42 describe what they will do. Letters, reports, and proposals that they describe

43 services to be performed are interpreted as contracts in courts. Sales and

44 marketing messages must not make claims that cannot be verified, so that

45 language must not promise more than which intended.
