Interconnect Your Home

Correct If the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas is any indication, this will

come be the year of PCs going from the desktop and come into your hand, your living

34 room, or your kitchen appliances. The idea of interconnectivity is emerged as a

35 central theme at the massive trade show. Increasing more companies, including

36 Microsoft, were showing off products that allow PCs, TVs, stereos, and media

37 recorders are to be connected by home networks. Intel said it would enter the

38 consumer electronics market as for the first time with a chip specifically

39 designed to provide power cheaper, better flat-panel TV displays and an

40 all-in-one home entertainment PC. "Entertainment PCs", according to Intel, will

41 come on the market later this year, priced at between 6, 400 yuan or less. They

42 are intended to offer that live TV tuning, video recording, DVD and photo display,

43 and even video gaming. What at stake is the traditional consumer electronics

44 model, since then PC companies push into the higher-margin market for

45 consumer electronics, driving down costs and playing up interactive feature.

听力原文:M: Hi, Mary. How's everything?

W: Fine. You know, John, I'm planning to go to Las Vegas for a holiday and would like to stay in a large hotel. Anything to recommend?

M: Er? the Hilton Hotel there is quite a large one. It has some 3, 174 bedrooms. It also has 12 restaurants and about 125, 000 square feet of convention space. There're a 10-acre recreation deck and a stage show dining hall. Over 3, 600 people now work for it.

W: Oh, great] Is it the largest hotel in the U. S. ?

M: Yes,it is. But it may not be the largest in the world. As far as I know, the Hotel Rossiya in Moscow is larger than Hilton. It is a 12-story building that has 3, 200 rooms. It can provide accommodation for 6, 000 guests. It takes nearly 8 years and a half to spend one night in each room. Besides, there's a 21-story"Presidential tower" in the central courtyard. It has 15 restaurants and 93 elevators. And it employs about 3, 000 people. The ballroom is known as the world's largest. Russians are not allowed to live in that hotel. And foreigners are charged 16 times more than the very low rate charged Russian officials.

W: It's unbelievable ? [ fade out ]

Who is going to Las Vegas?

A.John.

B.Mary.

C.Tom.

听力原文: Travelers are booking hotel rooms in cities closer to home this summer, with the exception of two European magnets, according to a new survey.

Las Vegas scored the most July and August room reservations for the second year in a row, while another gambling Mecca, Reno, along with Honolulu moved onto the top 10 list for the first time, according to a tally of seasonal bookings from Hotels. com. Las Vegas has successfully pitched itself as an alternative family destination even in the desert' s hottest months. It's like a theme park city. Almost every hotel has a theme park inside it, so there's a lot to do for families.

Orlando displaced the Big Apple in the No. 2 spot, San Francisco moved up a notch into fifth place and Miami dropped out of the running, probably because of a decline in international tourism, Hotels. com president Bob Diener said. Paris's slip to No. 10 from No. 5 last year wasn't surprising given some Americans' resentment of France's lack of support for U.S. policy in Iraq, Diener said. But the omission of Boston was unexpected, especially in a year in which patriotism is a resounding theme in travel marketing, he said.

Overall summer travel is expected to rise 2.5 percent this year, with 83 percent of Americans planning at least one trip and 28 percent planning to travel more than last year, according to studies from the Travel Industry Association.

Which city got the most room reservations last summer?

A.Orlando.

B.Honolulu.

C.Las Vegas.

D.Boston.
