Task 2 Passage Translation

听力原文: Almost everybody knows the importance of cherishing friendship. Some years ago a public-opinion research firm interviewed more than 2,000 people to identify one or two things that matter most to them. Friends far outranked homes, jobs, clothes, and cars. Yet very few of us understand the secrets of a well-established friendship. Here are some suggestions from experts for a more reliable friendship. The first tip is to avoid excessive pride and be more considerate for your friends. Second, apologize when you are wrong, even if you've also been wronged. Third, see things from the friend's point of view. Last, we should also accept the fact that friendship may also witness ups and downs, and change itself is also a natural part of friendship.

听力原文: If you don't use your antis or your legs for some time, they become weak, when you use them again, they slowly become strong again. Everybody knows that. Yet many people do not seem to know that memory works the same way.

When someone .says that he has a good memory, he really means that he keeps his memory in practice by using it. When some- one else says that his memory is poor, he means that he does not give it enough chance to become strong.

If a friend says that his arms and legs are weak, we know that it is his own fault. But if he tells us that he has a poor memory, many of us think that his parents are to blame, and few of us know that it is just his own fault.

Have you ever found that some people can't read or write but usually have better memories? This is because they cannot read or write and they have to remember things; they cannot write them in a little notebook. They have to remember days, names, songs and stories; so their memory is the whole time being exercised.

So if you want to have a good memory, learn from the people; practice remembering.

听力原文: If parents bring up a child with the aim of turning the child into a genius,
they will cause a disaster. According to several leading educational psychologists, this is one of the biggest mistakes that ambitious parents make. Generally, the child will be only too aware of what the parent expects, and will fail. Unrealistic parental expectations can cause great damage to children. However, if parents are not too unrealistic about what they expect their children to do, but are ambitious in a sensible way, the child may succeed in doing very well — especially if the parents are very supportive of their child. Michael Li is very lucky. He is crazy about music, and his parents help him a lot by taking him to concerts and arranging private piano and violin lessons for him. Although Michaels mother knows very little about music, Michaels father plays the trumpet in a large orchestra. However, he never makes Michael enter music competitions if he is unwilling. Michaels friend, Winston Chen, however, is not so lucky. Although both his parents are successful musicians, they set a too high standard for Winston. They want their son to be as successful as they are and so they enter him in every piano competition held. They are very unhappy when he does not win. "When I was your age, I used to win every competition I entered," Winstons father tells him. Winston is always afraid that he will disappoint his parents and now he always seems quiet and unhappy. Questions 19 to 22 are based on the passage you have just heard. 19. What is the right attitude in bringing up a child? 20. What does the speaker tell us about Michaels father? 21. What can we learn about Winston Chens parents? 22. Why does Winston always seem quiet and unhappy?19.

A.He knows very little about music.

B.He is a member of a large orchestra.

C.He wants Michael to be a great trumpet player.

D.He never makes Michael enter music competitions.
