听力原文: After years of study, I hove determined there are only two types of people in this world: Those who get to the airport early and those who walk in just as the plane is about to take off. If there were any justice in the world, the early airport people would be rewarded for doing the right thing and the late airport people would be punished. But there is no justice. I know I hove been an early airport person for years. My luggage will get on the plane first but it will be the last luggage to come off the plane when we land. You know who really gets his luggage first when we land? The late airport person, who rushes into the airport three minutes before the plane takes off. "But if I get there real early," I told myself, "I will get the best seat." Well, no matter how early I showed up, I was always told that someone had called two or three days ahead of me and asked for that seat. The utmost embarrassment of the early airport person happened to me a few years ago when I was flying from New York to Chicago, When I got to the ticket counter, the person there said, "Sir, you hove a seat on the 9:15 A.M. flight, is that right?" "Yea. ' I said. "Well, it's only 7:00 A. M. and the 7:05 A.M. flight has not left yet. If you hurry you can make it." I was too embarrassed to say that I arrived early so I wouldn't have to hurry. Instead, I ran down the corridor to the plane.

(23)

A.He is always in a hurry.

B.He is quick in making decisions.

C.He is always the first to arrive at the airport.

D.He usually doesn't get the reward he deserves.

I ordered a box spring and mattress from the Boscovs store in Camp Hill, PA. I needed to e
xchange the box spring for a lower one. The sales people at the store were helpful, but it took almost three weeks for it to come in. They called to set up an appointment for delivery. Someone else took the call and told them I was working and that it would be better for us if it was delivered on the following Saturday. I called to confirm this and the lady who took my call was NOT very helpful. It would have probably been less frustrating if I had talked to a machine. She checked my account, and said I had to set up a delivery time. I thought I had a delivery day, but she said I didn't. I was so frustrated while talking to her, because she was the most unresponsive person I have dealt with in years. In frustration, I told her the earliest I could be there for a delivery was the following Thursday! I thought I had a Saturday delivery! The people who initially delivered the bed were prompt and nice, but I will never order another thing from Boscovs where I have to set up a delivery. The person who set up the delivery was not Customer Focused AT ALL!

What did the customer order from the Boscovs store?

A.A box spring and mattress.

B.An office desk and lamp.

C.A phone and answering machine.

D.A service representative training manual.

Very pleased, he went to tell his colleagues. They laughed and told him the meaning of the invitation. They had all been invited and each person who was invited had to bring with him a certain number of silver and gold coins. The number of coins varied according to the person's position in the service of the government. My friend's income was not high, so he did not have much to pay. Each person bowed before the ruler, his gold went onto one heap, and his silver went onto another heap. And in this way he paid his income tax for the year, This was a simple way of collecting income tax. The tax on property wes also collected area, if this man promised to pay the ruler a certain amount of money. Of coupe, the tax collector managed to collect more money than he paid to the ruler. The difference between the sum of money collected and the sum of money he gave to the ruler was his profit.
