听力原文: Coca-Cola Company, the world famous beverage company, produces and distributes many kinds of soft drinks and non-soda drinks. The company's soft drinks include its flagship product Coca-Cola (popularly known as Coke), Diet Coke, Sprite, Fanta, and Barq's root beer. And its non-soda beverages include Minute Maid fruit juices, PowerAde sports drinks, and Nestea iced tea drinks.

Coca-Cola Company can trace its origin to 1886 when John Pemberton, an Atlanta pharmacist created a drink from carbonated water, cane sugar syrup, caffeine, and extracts of kola nuts and coca leaves. The drink was medicinal and refreshing. Pemberton's bookkeeper, Frank M. Robinson, suggested the name Coca-Cola. Together, they coined the drink's first slogan, "Delicious and Refreshing." The Coca-Cola Company was established in 1892. In 1893, Coca-Cola was registered as a patented trademark. In 1894 the first bottled Coke was produced. And by 1895, the drink was sold throughout the United States.

The year 1977 marked a new era for Coca-Cola Company, it began packaging Coke and other drinks in two-liter plastic bottles. The popularity of these large bottles grew over time, and their sales earned the company new profits.

Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc. was established in the year 1986, and in the next year, it was listed in the prestigious Dow Jones Industrial Averages index of stock market performance. Its stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange.

Worldwide, Coca-Cola ranked first in soft drink sales, and the company earned almost 80 percent of its profits from international sales.

听力原文: The World Health Organization is to call for strict controls on junk food in a major campaign against obesity, and the agency will unveil its actual strategy next week. Based on evidence obtained through various investigations, the WHO believes that obesity has become a global epidemic that is directly associated with more than 30 million deaths each year. According to the agency, obesity is now one of the world's three greatest health threats, along with smoking and malnutrition. Recent estimates suggest that 1.7 billion people are now obese, which has led to a surge in diseases such as cancers and diabetes.

The WHO will call for heavy cuts in the use of sugar, salt and saturated fats. And this is bound to sound the alarm to many of Britain's top-selling brands, including Cadbury's, Coca-Cola, and Birds Eye. The WHO will produce a policy paper calling for new daily limits for sugar, salt and fats, as well as tougher control of food advertising. According to the figures issued by the WHO, the safety threshold for sugar would be 10gms a day—a limit already exceeded by one 500ml bottle of cola and, salt should be limited to 5gms a day—the amount of salt contained in a standard tin of baked beans.

听力原文: I grew up in a small town. My father raised chickens and ran a construction company. When I was 10 years old, my dad gave me the responsibility of feeding chickens and cleaning up the stable. He believed it was important to me to learn responsibility and moods from those jobs.

When I was 22, I found a job in New York at a country music club. I washed dishes and cooked from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.and then went on stage and sang until 2:00 in the morning. I soon became known as a singing cook.I had been refused so many times by record companies that it was easy to be discouraged.

One night, a woman executive from a company named Warner Brothers Records came to hear me sing. When the show was over, we sat down and talked. Several weeks later, my manager received a phone call--Warner Brothers wanted to sign me to a record deal. I released my first record in July, 1987. It was sold over 2 million copies.

My best efforts had gone into every job I ever held. It was the sense of responsibility that made me feel like a man. Knowing that I had done my best filled me with pride. I still feel that way today, even though I have become a well-known singer.

32. When did the speaker begin to learn responsibility?

33.Who first recognized his gifts as a singer?

34.Where did the speaker work before he became a professional singer?

35.What made the speaker feel proud of himself?

(33)

A.At the age of 10.

B.At the age of 22.

C.When he was known as a singing cook.

听力原文:Andrew Warhol was born in 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He studied at the Car

听力原文: Andrew Warhol was born in 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He studied at the Carnegie Institute of Technology. By 1950, Andy Warhol, as he now called himself, moved to New York City and pursued a successful career as s commercial designer and illustrator.

In the 1960s, Warhol became one of the leaders of .the pop art movement. Taking its name from "popular", this art used images in popular culture for its subject matter. Probably one of Warhol's most famous images is called Campbell's Soup Can -- a picture of a brand of soup popular in the U. S.. Other famous works are Green Coca-Cola Bottles and the three-dimensional Brillo Box, which looks exactly like the box of soap pads sold in the supermarket.

Now, Warhol also wanted to simplify the process of making art, so he silk-screened photographs onto painted canvas. He created very striking, brightly colored portraits of celebrities. The most famous are of Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, and Elvis Presley. To make his art look even more mechanical, he would repeat many images of the same thing on the canvas, sometimes just changing the color or a few little details. He even named the place where he produced his art "The Factory".

And Warhol was also a film-maker and a publisher. His magazine called Interview was filled with articles and gossip about celebrities. With his trademark bushy white hair and his association with celebrities, this man who seemed somewhat shy was always in the public eye. It seems that the more fun he made of art and fame, the more famous Andy Warhol became. He died in 1987 and is the subject of the largest museum devoted to a single artist: The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, his hometown.

This talk is about the American artist Andy Warhol. When was this artist born?

A.In 1928.

B.In 1938.

C.In 1950.

D.In 1960.
