听力原文: After years of study, I hove determined there are only two types of people in this world: Those who get to the airport early and those who walk in just as the plane is about to take off. If there were any justice in the world, the early airport people would be rewarded for doing the right thing and the late airport people would be punished. But there is no justice. I know I hove been an early airport person for years. My luggage will get on the plane first but it will be the last luggage to come off the plane when we land. You know who really gets his luggage first when we land? The late airport person, who rushes into the airport three minutes before the plane takes off. "But if I get there real early," I told myself, "I will get the best seat." Well, no matter how early I showed up, I was always told that someone had called two or three days ahead of me and asked for that seat. The utmost embarrassment of the early airport person happened to me a few years ago when I was flying from New York to Chicago, When I got to the ticket counter, the person there said, "Sir, you hove a seat on the 9:15 A.M. flight, is that right?" "Yea. ' I said. "Well, it's only 7:00 A. M. and the 7:05 A.M. flight has not left yet. If you hurry you can make it." I was too embarrassed to say that I arrived early so I wouldn't have to hurry. Instead, I ran down the corridor to the plane.

(23)

A.He is always in a hurry.

B.He is quick in making decisions.

C.He is always the first to arrive at the airport.

D.He usually doesn't get the reward he deserves.

听力原文:I' m honored to be here today. One of my favorite things to do is to talk with bu
siness students about building a successful company. After I graduated from business school, I established my own company. We specialize in renovating offices and stores. The work we usually do needs to be done quickly and we can't make mistakes. Otherwise, we lose clients. To meet these work demands, I've learned that it is essential to have employees who work well together. Teamwork has definitely made a big difference in my company's success. Of course there are other things I've learned in some tough ways, especially on the financial side. For example, I realize now the company would have grown way faster if I took advantage of a business loan or other types of financial assistance.

What type of business does the speaker have?

A.Advertising

B.Property management

C.Building renovation

D.Accounting

听力原文:It is my firm belief that men and women are equal. I cannot accept that some role
s are more suitable for males than for females. As far as I am concerned, men and women are equally capable of learning all skills.

In my view, parents should share household tasks and childcare. I think the division of labor should depend on individual circumstances. It seems to me that we can learn most things if we try. It's unwise to suggest that women should take care of most of the practical aspects of childcare because they are more patient, more gentle and more skilled at it. Men can be just as skilled in these areas if they have practice!

Of course, I acknowledge that men are often physically stronger than women and are therefore better at doing certain types of physical work. And I don't deny that one individual may be better at cooking, for example, than the other. But I reject the suggestion that cleaning, washing and ironing are women's work. I strongly believe that we should question all types of sexual stereotyping. If you ask me, there's no such thing as "women's work". There's no reason at all why a man shouldn't do the ironing! My husband does all the ironing in our house — and I do all the electrical repairs!

(33)

A.Some jobs are more suitable for men than for women.

B.Women should take care of the practical aspects of childcare.

C.Cleaning, washing and ironing are women's work.

D.There should not be such things as "women's work".

听力原文: Welcome, everyone, to this workshop on student housing. I'll go through the info
rmation about types of housing available for the term and the procedure for application. Then, if you have any questions, feel free to ask me.

There are two main types of housing for you to choose from: student dorms and the international houses. As for now, there is some space available in each type, but they are filling up fast. You should get your application in as soon as possible. Let me explain some of the main features of each type of housing.

The student dorms are for any student. We have men's dorms and women's dorms. Most of the rooms have two beds, two closets, and two desks. There are no cooking facilities in the dorms, but you can buy a meal ticket for the cafeteria.

The international houses are a group of apartments for both foreign students and resident students. They are organized into language and culture themes, and some of them have rules about speaking only a certain language during meal times. It's been a good way for students to learn other cultures and languages. I think that the Spanish house is full, but there are rooms available in all the other houses.

Who is the speaker probably speaking to?

A.New students.

B.Foreign students.

C.Resident students.

D.Faculty.

听力原文:W: Good morning. Can I help you?

M: Yes, please. I'm a new student and I'd like to have some information about the accommodation.

W: Right. The university provides two types of accommodation: halls of residence and self-sup-plying accommodation.

M: How much does it cost for the self-supplying accommodation?

W: For a single room, thirty-seven pounds eighty six per week, that's about five forty-one a day. For a double room, it's fifty-two per week.

M: I'd like the self-supplying accommodation. How far is that from the residence to the university?

W: It all depends. The residence at 110 Palm Street is about one and a half miles and the Freemen's Common Houses at William Road are about half a mile

M: When do I need to apply?

W: Are you an undergraduate or a postgraduate?

M: Undergraduate.

W: Then you should apply for it as soon as possible, since places in university-owned accommodation are limited and if you don't apply before the end of the month, you are not likely to get a place.

M: Could you possibly tell me what to do, if no vacancy is available?

W: Yes, you may consider private accommodation. The university runs an accommodation information office and its staff will help you.

M: Where's the office?

W: In the Students' Union Building.

M: Whom can I contact?

W: Mr. Under word. David Underwood, the manager of the accommodation information office.

M: Thanks a lot.

W: My pleasure.

(23)

A.The university provides two types of accommodation.

B.Students must apply early since the places are limited.

C.A student may choose from university-owned or private accommodation.

D.Most students prefer self-supplying accommodation.
