"When should somebody seek medical help for headaches? neurologist Seymour Diamond asks rhetorically (提出问题进行探讨). Generally, whenever headaches are associated with neurological signs, such as dizziness(头昏,头晕), weakness in a limb or limbs, vision impairment of any sort—including seeing flashing lights—they warrant(应受) immediate attention. Additionally, Diamond says that you should seek medical attention:
If you suffer from almost daily headaches;
If the headache is a type you've never had before, or there has been a change in the character(特征) of the headache;
If you' re losing time from work or activities, or otherwise being prevented from functioning.
Even if your headaches are less dramatic than those described here, if they are a re- al problem to you, you should seek help. It may be that your doctor will be unable to find a physical cause for your discomfort, but that may point you in other directions to find relief. Some headaches, particularly those caused by tension, have a major psycho- logical component that might be relieved through counseling (走向,指导).
People with chronic headaches never realize that they need to see a doctor.

听力原文: Did you ever have someone's name on the tip of your tongue and yet you were unable to recall it? When this happens again, do not try to recall it. Do something else for a couple of minutes, and the name may come into your head. The name is there since you have met this person and learned his name. It only has to be dug out. The initial effort to recall prepares the mind fur operation, but it is the subconscious activities that go to work to dig up a dim memory. Forcing yourself to recall almost never helps because it doesn't loosen your memory; it only tightens it. Students find the preparatory method helpful in examinations. They read over the questions before trying to answer any of them. Then they answer first the ones of which they are most confident. Meanwhile, deeper mental activities in the subconscious mind are taking place; work is being done on the more difficult questions. By the time the easier questions are answered, answers to the more difficult ones will usually begin to come into consciousness. It is often just a question of waiting for recall to come to the memory.

听力原文: It was years since 1 had visited my hometown and I was determined to enjoy my stay. I went to see my old friend, Tom Clark who, among other things, was a member of the Lacal Council. At the time Tom was busy making arrangements for a distinguished writer to give a talk on modern literature at the town library. As the subject interested me a great deal, I gladly accepted Tom's invitation to go with him.
Tom was going to introduce tile guest speaker and that evening we went to the library to meet him. Since he had ant yet arrived, I left Tom and went into the Reading Room where a large audience had already gathered. I was disappointed to find that I did not know a single person there. Just before the talk was due to begin, I saw Tom waving to me from the doorway. I went to him immediately, as he looked very worried. He explained that he had just received a telephone message from the writer's secretary. Our guest speaker had missed the train and would be unable to come!
While we were talking about the problem, Tom suddenly asked me if I would mind acting as speaker. I hardly had time to think about the matter when I found I was being led into the Reading Room to address the waiting audience !
